Members & Governance
The NRSC is a non-profit organization. It was founded in 2008 in Grasse, France, by representatives of beauty, fragrance, and flavors companies, farming communities, and the Indigenous cause. These individuals all share a common commitment to responsible sourcing. To express this commitment, they drafted and signed the Resolution Text, a founding document based on the principles of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and other international agreements, as well as the Guidelines.
The NRSC members are women and men from all horizons, all in leadership positions in companies of the beauty, fragrance, and flavor industries. They are users of natural raw materials and have committed personally to implementing best practices and responsible sourcing.
The NRSC is composed of presidents, CEOs, and chairpersons of companies in the beauty, fragrance, and flavors industries that have been approved by the Board of Directors, in accordance with the internal rules of governance.
The NRSC is governed by a General Assembly that meets twice a year to vote on the strategy, action plan, and budget for each action. It elects a Board of Directors to make all necessary decisions and approve and support the organization’s management and operations. The Board of Directors ensures the rules of governance are respected.
The NRSC’s day-to-day management is handled by a team of experts from the member companies under the supervision of the General Secretary, acting also as Project Coordinator. Meetings are organized approximately every two months to review the actions in progress.
Communication about the NRSC is restricted to prevent any member from using his or her membership or any of the NRSC’s collective actions for promotional or commercial purposes.
The NRSC is not a buyers group and does not take part in any trade agreement discussions.
